The Specialist in Blood Bank Technology (SBB) is an integral part of the laboratory medicine community. They are specially trained to handle the most complex situations in the blood bank. At many hospitals, the manager or supervisor of the blood bank must be an SBB, with many hospitals also employing these experts on the bench. If you have a love of immunohematology, then this is the field of study for you. Many programs can be completed on a part-time basis while the student continues to work in the laboratory.
