The 2017 Annual Meeting may have just come to an end, but ASCLS is already looking ahead to 2018. Chicago will be the host city of next year's event. But it is going to take a little effort for us to get there.
The Promotion of the Profession Committee (PPC) is kicking off a yearlong campaign aimed toward highlighting the role of the laboratory in providing safe, quality care to patients. As laboratorians, we are all very aware of the role that we play, but do other healthcare professionals recognize our role? Do they know all that we can do for them? Are we having those crucial conversations with doctors, nurses, etc. that will lead to the best use of laboratory testing? Well, ASCLS wants to know.
If you have a story about a time in your career where you were able to provide better patient care by educating a fellow healthcare professional on laboratory science, please share it with us. Each story shared will bring us one mile close to Chicago from San Diego. This will take a lot of effort, as it is a 2,080 mile journey from San Diego to Chicago.
So join us on the road to understanding.

"The Bench Connection" will feature posts about tying together or efforts in ASCLS with our efforts within our workplace. The first few articles are already available online, and cover an array of topics including mentorship, time management, and legislative efforts.
